We have done extensive dyno testing throughout the development of our intake to ensure our kit makes the most horsepower. Preliminary dyno testing of our prototype kits has shown a peak boost increase of over 1 psi along with healthy horsepower and torque gains. The 4.125" x 6.75" large oval inlet at the filter provides for unrestricted airflow and with a 4” mouth at the supercharger it’s ready for your future supercharger upgrade. A S&B branded radiator cover is included and provides for a larger opening to the air box while still isolating engine heat. Our new Patented snap-In lid seal design requires no screws to secure it to the box. This makes installation and inspection quick and easy. The snap-in lid provides a protective seal against unwanted, power-robbing engine heat and debris. This kit comes with a massive, highly-efficient air filter which results in better performance and protects your engine. Available in either 8-layer Cotton Cleanable or Dry Extendable media.
S&B cold air intakes are engineered to minimize air restriction and increase air flow far better than your stock system. Our intake kits come with a fully enclosed one piece air box that protects the air filter from dirt and keeps out unwanted engine heat. The signature clear lid provides a great look and includes a rubber lid seal to keep out more of that power robbing engine heat.
What's the difference between cleanable cotton and the dry air filter?
Both filters offer similar performance characteristics, so the decision comes down to would you prefer to throw away the filter or clean it. The cotton air filter is cleanable.
If you operate your vehicle in conditions with lots of dry dust, we have found that customers like using a dry filter since it can be blown out with compressed air to extend the life of the filter. Our cotton/cleanable filters will protect your engine in dusty conditions as well, but they can't be blown out with compressed air as this would separate the media.
Do S&B intakes require a tune?
Our kits are designed to work with the stock system and you will not receive any CEL’s (check engine lights) during normal operation of the vehicle. Although many customers choose to pair our intake with aftermarket tuners, our kits do not require a tuner nor any special tuning in order to provide a performance increase.
During the installation process we ask that you disconnect the battery because this will prompt your vehicle's computer/sensors to recalibrate and adapt to the new intake and the extra amount of airflow coming through the intake tube. This step is sometimes skipped and since the computer doesn't know there was a change to the air intake, it could potentially throw a CEL, but can be easily corrected by disconnecting the battery.
